From November 1, 2026, LINE Official Account changes its plan prices: the fixed monthly fees of the mid and high plans each go up by NT$200, and add-on messages on the high plan move to new price tiers. For brands that broadcast often, monthly messaging costs will rise with them.

The change is a reminder that every message has a cost, so sending the right ones beats sending more. This article sums up LINE’s announcement, then shows how AIM segmented messages and LINE notification messages (PNP) put the budget on the friends who actually respond.

All prices exclude tax.

PlanMonthly feeFree messages per monthAdd-on messages
LightNT$0 (unchanged)200 (unchanged)Not available
MidNT$800 → NT$1,0003,000 (unchanged)Not available; upgrade to High
HighNT$1,200 → NT$1,4006,000 (unchanged)Available, tiered pricing

Add-on messages on the High plan now have two tiers:

  • Messages 1 to 50,000 in a month: NT$0.2 each
  • From message 50,001: NT$0.15 each

Other points to note:

  • Free messages stay the same: the monthly fee goes up, but the number of free messages does not.
  • Mid and High plans get OA PLUS for free: free modules such as automatic tagging and the store helper are switched on.
  • Automatic renewal counts as agreement: accounts paid by card on automatic renewal are charged the new price from November 1.
  • Messages that are not charged: greeting messages, one-to-one chat, auto-response messages, AI auto-response messages, and the Messaging API’s Reply API.
  • Official account premium IDs will also change: planned from March 2027; LINE’s announcement sets the actual date.

Messages cost more, so broadcasting costs more

Broadcast messages are counted by recipient: one message sent to 50,000 friends counts as 50,000 messages. The more friends you have, the more each broadcast costs.

For example, a brand with 50,000 friends that broadcasts 4 times a month sends 200,000 messages. If it segments instead and sends each message only to the 15,000 people who are actually interested, that is about 60,000 a month. At an add-on price of at least NT$0.15, the 140,000 messages it no longer sends save more than NT$20,000 a month in add-on fees (an estimate excluding tax; the actual amount depends on the account’s usage).

More importantly, broadcasting costs more than money. Friends who get too many messages they don’t care about tend to block the account, and the brand loses the chance to talk to them later.

Strategy 1: send messages to the right people with AIM segmentation

The core of the AIM LINE marketing platform is sending each message only to the people who need it.

LINE segmented marketing

Estimate the message count before sending

AIM lets you pick several lists and exclude others, and estimates how many messages a send will use before it goes out, so you can weigh the cost first and review the results after. For example, exclude members who bought in the last 7 days so the same customer does not get the same promotion twice.

Get to know each friend with tags

When friends tap a message, join a campaign or fill in a survey, AIM can tag them automatically. Combining tags, message views and campaign participation finds distinct groups:

  • New friends: send a brand introduction and a nudge towards a first purchase
  • Friends interested in a product: send only the related new arrivals
  • Recently active friends: talk to them first for better open and click rates
  • Friends who haven’t responded for a long time: message them less often to avoid blocks

Segment quickly with LINE attributes

Even before tags build up, you can filter friends by age, gender, region, operating system and how long they have been friends. For example, send a store event only to friends in that area.

Let friends come to you

According to LINE, the Messaging API’s Reply API is not charged, and AIM’s keyword auto-replies use the Reply API. Brands can put frequently needed information in the rich menu and pair it with keyword auto-replies, so friends look things up when they need to. The replies use no message quota, and fewer messages go out just as reminders. AIM’s personalized rich menus can also show different content depending on who the friend is.

Strategy 2: send notifications as LINE notification messages (PNP)

Delivery, shipping, booking and prize notices are messages customers need to receive, but the recipients are not always friends of the official account. These messages suit LINE notification messages (PNP):

  • A phone number is all you need: recipients get the notice from the brand’s official account whether or not they are friends.
  • More trusted than text messages: recipients can see at a glance which brand sent it, so it is not mistaken for a scam text.
  • About half the cost of a text message: a good fit for businesses that send many notices by text.
  • New friends: people who receive a notice can add the account in one tap, and segmented messages keep the relationship going.

AIM orders sending methods by cost and matches phone numbers to the right one automatically; recipients who don’t use LINE can be reached another way.

Check your LINE messaging costs in three steps

  1. Take stock: how many messages did you send each month over the last 3 months? Which campaigns went to everyone?
  2. Sort messages by purpose: send promotions and content as segmented messages; consider PNP for notifications; handle common questions with the rich menu and keyword auto-replies.
  3. Track results: compare open, click and block rates before and after segmenting, and keep refining the audience rules.

Make every message count

After LINE’s price change, messaging costs will only matter more. Rather than talk to friends less, brands do better to send messages to the right people at the right time.
